BRICK INSTALLATION AT HOMESTEAD

The Oxford Historical Society recently completed the installation of over two-hundred commemorative bricks at the 1755 Twitchell-Rowland Homestead.  Many Oxford residents and others with ties to Oxford have donated bricks inscribed with family names, a business name, or a meaningful saying.  These may now be viewed at the Homestead at 60 Towner Lane.  The bricks are located in the center of the gardens in front of the house, and also surround a small garden bed in the back lawn where the Society will plant flowers in the spring.

Spaces have been included in each area for the future donation of inscribed bricks.  Orders are now being taken.  The Society encourages residents to consider a gift of an inscribed brick to family members or friends this holiday season.  The Society will send a special gift announcement to the recipients upon request.  This is a present that will last a century!  The bricks make a good gift for those special persons who seem to "have everything."

Bricks are available for two prices.  The $60 bricks will be laid near the front entrance of the Homestead, and the $40 bricks will be laid around the small garden in the back lawn of the Homestead.   Inscriptions may take many forms, including names of family members, memorials, the name of a business, or a saying.  Text can be up to three lines of 20 characters each.  All donations are tax-deductible.  Proceeds from the bricks will go toward the opening of the Homestead as Oxford’s first History Museum.

Order forms are available in the Town Clerk's office, or downloaded online  HERE:  Further information may also be obtained by calling the Brick Sales Coordinator, Cindy Joy, at 203-888-6936
